By the time you read this article, I will have returned from a short trip to Myanmar.
Myanmar is known all over the world as the Golden Land. To explain in more detail: Pagodas are very beautiful religious golden temples and you can certainly see that everywhere in Myanmar, especially in the number of pagodas which you can find on ‘each corner’ of this country. .. But the most relaxing destination in Myanmar I have in mind is Inle Lake.
The first day at Inle Lake was amazing. My guide was waiting for me at the bus station to take me to my hotel, the *** Inle Resort. The small hotel is located almost at the end of Inle Lake. It is built on stilts and can only be reached by boat.
The biggest highlight on Inle Lake was my sunset boat trip on the lake to photograph the fishermen with their special technique. They balance on one leg while wrapping the other leg around the oar to steer the boat. This technique allows them to stand on the boat and keep their hands free to handle the huge conical net. Inle men start fishing at the age of 13.
You can see a lot of beautiful pictures of Inle Lake fishermen if you google them. You can do the same and pay a fisherman to jump on his boat and pose for you. Cool, huh?
The second day in Myanmar was awfully rainy. I almost stayed in the hotel and did... nothing with a TV, just local channels. "I wish my Netflix was here" was a flash in my mind and I asked a receptionist for help.
"You cannot watch Netflix in Myanmar as it is blocked by the government. This means that people who want to watch Netflix in Myanmar have to use a VPN. And not all VPNs work with Netflix. Most importantly, it is not easy to buy a Netflix gift card here," he said.
